EMPOWER WISM New program "Empower Women in Shared Mobility"

From the long-standing interview series "Women in Shared Mobility," the program "Empower Women in Shared Mobility" has emerged, funded by movmi, ITS America, ABB, GoWithFlow, and the Ray as well as a jury of experts from all over the world. The program aims to promote a mobility project led by women for 12 months to support its success in as many ways as possible.

Transport is still a male-dominated industry today. Less than 22% of transport workers are female, with less than 3% in CEO positions. movmi has been organizing the interview series "Women in Shared Mobility" for five years to strengthen female managers' voices from the industry working in the transport sector, especially in shared mobility. Over 100 women have shared their views and expertise with our audience to inspire the younger generation in the transport industry.

"Empower Women in Shared Mobility" program

The "Empower Women in Shared Mobility" program is looking for female entrepreneurs to tackle the transport problems of tomorrow. The application procedure for the 2021 program is open to all young companies (<5 years old), which are majority female-owned (cis or trans women, non-binary, gender, or gender inconsistent) (51%+) and offer a product or service falling under the shared mobility sector.

The program is a collaboration between movmi, ITS America, ABB, GoWithFlow, and the Ray, as well as a jury of experts from around the world.

Three companies will be selected and presented from all applications. The winning company chosen by the jury will receive a 12-month mentoring package, access to the entire EmpowerWisM network (partners, jurors, and movmi). It will be invited to present their work on various occasions.

To qualify for the program, a company must:

  • Focus on new forms of personal mobility/transport
  • Be owned, managed, and controlled by women (cis or trans women, non-binary, gender-fluid, or gender-insensitive persons)
  • Be less than five years old with an income of minimum 50k

The application is short and includes five questions and a 1-minute video pitch on the topic of lift. An international jury will evaluate the entries, select the best five, and award the winner.

The five questions that you must answer as part of your entry form are:

  • Describe your project (word limit: 200)
  • Describe the vision of your company and how you want to achieve this vision (word limit: 250)
  • What does your current revenue model look like? (short answer)
  • What are your three biggest challenges? (Word limit: 300)
  • How would winning the Empower WiSM program support your vision and project? (Word limit: 300)

The application procedure for the 2021 program is open to all young companies, which are majority female-owned and offer a product or service falling under the shared mobility sector.

Timetable for 2021

Applications can be submitted between 30 October 2020 and 15 December 2020. The judges' names will be announced in mid-November 2020, and they will evaluate and judge the entries between 15 December and mid-January. At that time, the top 5 companies will be notified and contacted for a 15-minute presentation. The top 3 companies will have the chance to present their solution during the award ceremony on 28 January 2021. The winning company will also be announced at that time.
